Although it is not required that Board members serve on a committee, typically members serve on one committee. Meeting demands vary from one committee to another.
Executive Committee:
The Executive Committee consists of the Chair, Vice Chair, and two representatives from each planning district, for a total of six members with three from each planning district. The Executive Directors of Planning Districts 9 and 10 serves as non-voting, ex-officio members of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee reviews all issues coming before the LWIB and makes recommendations for action to the LWIB. The Executive Committee serves as the Strategic Planning Committee.
One Stop Committee:
This committee is charged with the quality control and oversight of the One Stop Centers and system. The goal is integration of partner services through the One Stop Systems. Since the committee has oversight of services provided by One Stop Partners, committee membership is limited to representatives of business or major employers, labor or economic development.
Certification of Training Providers:
This committee is charged with soliciting, reviewing and acting on applications for certification for potential providers of specific training. The Committee creates performance reports on certified trainers and update annually in a timely manner, coordinated with the certification process. The Committee determines local factors that may have affected training provider performance, and take these factors into account when reviewing applications for certification. The Committee establishes the schedule for the initial application process and annual re-certification.
Finance Committee:
This committee is charged with reviewing all financial issues to come before the Local Workforce Investment Board and making recommendations to the LWIB prior to Board action.
Nominating Committee:
This committee is charged with submitting nominations to the LWIB for leadership positions for the LWIB, and making recommendations to the Chief Local Elected Officials and the Boards of Supervisors and City Council for appointments to the LWIB.
Bylaws Committee:
This committee is charged with periodic review of the Bylaws and submitting recommendations for revision to the LWIB. Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the Board.
Youth Council:
The Youth Council develops the youth portions of the strategic plan, recommends eligible providers of youth activities, conducts oversight of youth activities in the local area, and takes on other duties assigned by the LWIB. The LWIB appoints members of the Youth Council; among its membership, the Youth Council must include one or more members of the LWIB with special interest or expertise in youth policy
One Stop Relocation Team:
This Team was appointed by the LWIB to determine the best solution for the relocation of the Charlottesville Comprehensive Center located at Preston Avenue. This Team is expected to be short term and will no longer exist when the goal is reached.
Marketing Team:
This Team was created to design a marketing strategy for Workforce Investment Area 6 that will improve customer service to both job seekers and employers.
